The materials engage students through play. Students can role play community helpers or life at home with other children similar in age. The dramatic play clothes will promote vocabulary, communication and social interactions. The alphabet groceries can be used to pretend various role-play activities but will also benefit students in small group and large group time to help them learn letters and sounds with typical food items. Additional items supplement station/center activities ie: science with the color mixing comes to life with the glasses and the microscope to explore objects from in the classroom or the playground.
