Over the school year, my 3rd graders will be revisiting and learning several new math concepts: standard algorithm for addition & subtraction (up to 1000), multiplications, intro to division and fractions. Students learn best when they can actively engage in the content, using whiteboards during math lessons helps to facilitate this. Whiteboards allow students to practice their math skills, easily make corrections to errors, and show what they know. The latter is extremely important as a teacher because I need to quickly and regularly assess each student throughout the lesson so I can adjust my pace accordingly. Students will work out math problems on their whiteboard and then hold them up.
