Children need to move. Flexible seating allows them to wobble, rock, bounce, lean or stand, which increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow and core strength. In turn, this burns more calories and increases metabolism. It also helps keep young minds more alert and focused. We also need a rug for whole group settings that keep us an educational family unit and gives the lesson to a whole group. While the flexible seating meets individual students needs for those with anxieties, ADHD and various other learning differences in my classroom.
