Teaching in a high-poverty area at a Title I elementary school has been one of the biggest blessings in my life. I have learned and gained so much from my students and their families, and I try to be the most effective and caring teacher I can be for my students. Being a teacher, in general, has been of the biggest joys in my life, truly. The funding of this project would provide my students with basic math supplies to be used while at school, as well as to keep them at home, if needed, for extra practice in the future! The math supplies being requested include a class set of multiplication flashcards to help with learning their facts and building their fluency. The students will be able to keep these flashcards for home and school. I am also requesting a class set of the following items: dry erase clocks to work on elapsed time, as well as Play-Doh- to model their math thinking. I am requesting these items to benefit the students this school year. I am also requesting items to be used in lessons such as magnetic fraction bars to help those who need a visual during lessons, to understand how to compare fractions and find their equivalent fraction partners. Students will be able to use these items in the classroom as needed, or at home for additional learning. Many of these items will be for the students to keep for their own reference. Items used at home can help parents and families get involved with the learning as well. I know this past school year brought unique challenges to it, but that doesn't mean that my 3rd graders will lack opportunities to learn!
