Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During whole group and independent work they focus better with movement. Currently my students are choosing to work standing, sitting on the floor, kneeling at a chair or the option to take a quick walk around the room which helps to keep them on task. Making sure students are afforded the opportunity to move during learning is essential to helping them meet their learning goals and decreases the number of less desirable incidents in class. I have noticed major differences in my students when they are given the option for movement while engaged.
