My school has never had a full time counselor, so we are lacking in some basic social-emotional items. I have requested a variety of items to ensure that every student coming into my class will be able to find something to help them feel calm and safe. These items will help create an inclusive environment in my counseling classroom where students can come to take a small break when school or their emotions get overwhelming. I plan on using kinetic sand and Play-Doh to help students work through their feelings when they don't feel like talking. I also want to utilize the Little Spots curriculum which helps students put their feelings into words.
