We need to account for inclusion, which naturally brings a divergence of student learning, emotional, and their own individual challenges. Us counselors are being called upon to produce content to support our students emotionally and academically. Our students have been put through so much due to COVID, thus, causing emotional distress to rise. Many of them are dealing with anxiety and grief. The materials requested be used to support our student's needs and help me create an environment where they will feel safe, comfortable, and supported. It is important for me to have items that will assist with helping them control any emotional distress they might be feeling at the time. I have requested chairs because I currently have seating that is not comfortable to sit on for a long time. I have purchased items out of my own pocket, which I have never minded, however, I still have a long way to go to make sure my office is well equipped for my students.
