The classroom carpet will make a huge difference to my students' learning and development. By providing an area where we can regularly gather together, students will be able to learn valuable skills in empathy, problem-solving, peer mediation, and social-emotional learning. We will be able to hold impactful morning meetings, as well as afternoon recaps of skills and concepts learned during the day. By having a classroom meeting area, the culture and climate in the classroom are changed significantly to one of warmth, welcome, nurturing, and caring. A classroom meeting area provides a safe and comfortable area for students, which is needed more than ever. It provides an area of support and acceptance and a place where all voices are heard.
