We are the Conscious Kids Club, and our purpose is to add a layer of self-awareness, cultural heritage, education, full inclusion, and respect for all our differences at school and around the world. We are hopeful that through our club we can start to generate knowledge and awareness to important topics that might be missing from our current culture. The goal of the club is to build empathy and to help our students become global citizens who are inclusive, supportive, and knowledgeable about the things that make our communities so special. We aim to celebrate the things that contribute to the make-up of our students. We hope that it will reduce bullying at the school level and that it will incite positive changes in the present and looking towards the future. The materials that we are asking for will help us to have a strong foundation for our very new club. We will utilize them in club settings, classroom settings, and the whole school setting. We are asking for picture books because they are a great starting point to introduce the various topics that our group will be discussing. We are also asking for some craft supplies so that we can create as we learn about and embrace identities from all around the world. We are the inheritors and creators of culture, and it's important that our students have access to a starting point. We hope that The Conscious Kids Club will be just that.
