I am a new teacher in Buffalo, Wyoming. The program that I have moved into has great bones, but I would like to take things to the next level. The focus of public education has taken a turn in the past several years. More focus is given to core classes and steering students toward a college path. Don't get me wrong, I see and know the importance of higher education, but it is not for everyone. Some students spend their time in high school searching for who they really are, trying to figure out what to do with their lives. I want to help those students learn and master skills that will make them marketable to future employers and allow them to earn a good living doing something they love! I want to use the tools attached to this request to educate my Vocational Agriculture students in many different areas to broaden their horizons and help them identify a trade they are interested in. The emphasis of vocational education in public schools has gone to the way side, but the need for highly skilled and trained people to perform those jobs has only increased! The tools in this request will allow my students to learn and master skills that can help them have a successful career as a welder, mechanic, electrician, plumber, carpenter, metal fabricator, or agriculturalist. All of these career paths offer students high paying jobs and allow them to become contributing members of society. The path to greatness starts early and takes passion, determination, and grit. Please help me start the spark with my students and teach them life-long skills for THEIR future success. Thank you for your time and your generosity!
