My classroom is a brand new Autistic Support Classroom that has been added to the elementary schools because of a high number of incoming kindergartners who will be receiving full-time Autism Support. Developmentally appropriate materials are key to enhancing verbal communication skills and maintaining instructional momentum and motivation! Organizational materials will be used to make sure the classroom is running smoothly. Sensory items will be used to reinforce appropriate behaviors and responses as well as build motivation to engage in tasks. Multi-step activities and play items will be used to teach students how to engage in activities that require sustained attention. Paper and pencil activities simply will not do for my learners! Any hands-on manipulative will be greatly appreciated :)
