Each student will be working with sight words and word building materials during our Reading Block. By using sight word puzzles and word building materials my student will be experimenting with memorizing high frequency words, spelling patterns and developing an interest for words. During our sustained independent time the children will choose their own literacy task to work toward their individualized goal. Hands on materials allow the child to be successful at their own independent level of learning. Each of the word building materials I choose will enrich my classroom with literacy task to meet first grade standards.
