By building a diverse, culturally balanced, classroom library, my students will have access to literature to expand their knowledge and encourage discourse. Many students at small schools, such as ours, do not have the same access to literature and materials at home as their peers. Classroom libraries are vital to ensure equity among students everywhere. These types of stories encourage students to ask questions and lead discussions about important topics in our world today. As a new teacher, my library will be the key in creating an inclusive classroom climate.
