My students and I had begun a journey through STEM learning. As a teacher it was heartwarming to see the students engaged and having fun developing STEM projects that could eventually help others. We are a dual language school, where native Spanish speakers and Spanish learners engage in second language learning. When the pandemic hit, my students learned virtually for over a year. Our STEM journey was put to a halt. Their creativity, critical thinking, literacy and language was affected. We are now back at school and I have realized my students need STEM and literacy more than ever! Through these materials students will read the I Survived series and enhance their literacy skills while developing STEM ideas to help others in dilemmas. Our kids have gone through so much and they now want to help things get better. This is the best way to support them!
