These materials will be utilized across the student's school day! Whether the kids are greeting teachers, answering questions, requesting basic wants and needs, or even just engaging in social communication, there is a tool listed to suit what they need! I am hoping to engage students in a variety of interactive activities, all building communication skills for success! Many of my student's have limited skills preparing them for independence. They benefit from conversation activities, job related tasks, and community based tasks to prepare them for the real world. My truly "exceptional" students, communicate in a variety of ways, including verbally, with sign language or gestures, picture symbols, voice output devices, and dynamic displays (such as iPads or Tobii devices). Activities include pragmatic language skills - role play, scenarios, perspective taking, opinion giving, message delivery, and attitude. Activities of Daily Living include self-care activities, cooking, cleaning, etc. Job Skill activities include following directions and following a sequence to task completion. Lastly, Community Based activities range from reading road and safety signs to ordering from a menu and much, much, more!
