Currently I am starting out as the new elementary counselor, and while I envisioned having to supply many of my own things, I never imagined that I would walk into the job without any resources from the previous counselor. Without resources for the kiddos, it makes it hard to be able to effectively do the job that I was hired for. Different objects are able to help different kiddos. The books allow for better social emotional learning, while different sensory objects allow for better flow of communication with kiddos in the special ed department. Overall, these are crucial to be able to work with different individuals and to give them the time, and resources that they need in order to be successful.
