Visual learners have a hard time engaging with longer texts. Graphic novels help these students engage with difficult concepts and deeper themes while being able to engage more fully with the text. I have used shorter graphic texts and would like to offer my students the opportunity to engage with and analyze a longer literary text. Students who are offered high interest texts perform better academically and have an easier time bridging the gap to more traditional texts. I Kill Giants is an especially engaging text for the students I teach.
