I am a new art teacher to my school and the materials for art instruction are next to none. Simple things like paint and paper will go a very long way in aiding in the art curriculum of my elementary students. My art projects are hands on and tie into the core curriculum subjects. So each lesson reinforces math, language arts, social studies, or science. For example, 3rd grade this year will explore map making while studying the old world explorers and creating an antiqued map. Students in 3rd grade will learn about a compass rose, map key, what the explorers discovered, and myths they had (one of my favorite projects)!
