Book clubs promote a love of literature in a positive, nurturing environment. They also encourage critical thinking and deeper engagement with stories. Finally, book clubs provide accountability for students in reading and reading comprehension. I will be using two novels, giving students a choice in which novel they'd prefer to read around the topic of 9/11. As 2021 is the 20th anniversary and my students would not have been born at that time this is a way to build up their understanding of an event that has had a profound impact on all our lives.
