Manipulatives will be used in the classroom throughout the day to encourage play. Young children learn best through purposeful play. The items I selected for my classroom will give children opportunities to play with multicultural and diverse items that reflect their home life while also exposing other children to life outside of what they know. We need core math manipulatives to strengthen our counting, one to one correspondence, and sequencing. Literacy manipulatives help children gain knowledge in letter recognition and sounds, making simple words, and reading two or more words together.
