I am a special education co-teacher at the middle school level and work with a wide variety of students with differing needs. Many of the materials in my cart such as differentiated readers, whiteboards, and manipulative materials help students to work with new content in various ways. These materials will be put to use in our classroom for preteaching, reteaching, and repetition of new content for my students. The use of whiteboards is almost a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math. Whiteboards allow me to see exactly how students are thinking, as well as provide an easy place for students to show and share their work. Manipulatives like counters, dice, and playing cards help students to work with abstract material in a hands on way and engage in fun activities that help them learn their crucial math facts. Differentiated readers and chapter books at their level help to create a print-rich classroom where they feel they have access to books at their level and interest! In my classroom I read aloud to students, we have guided reading, and students read independently. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind. Items in my carts like fidget toys helps students who have a difficult time focusing in the classroom stay on task throughout the day. Donations to this project would be a huge help at creating a fun and hands on learning environment for my students.
