The four portable soccer goals and four portable height-adjustable nets selected for my P.E. classroom will help create a more authentic learning experience for all my students in grades K-5. Currently to teach my units on soccer, field hockey, or lacrosse students have to aim between two cones. This is not the most ideal set up as the cones are small and students are constantly kicking them over or stepping on them. A definite safety concern. In addition, without a back net, there is nothing to stop the momentum of a ball or puck once shot through the cones. The soccer goals you help buy will provide a larger and safer visual for my students as they learn important gross motor skills to play these different goal-oriented games.
Your donation will also provide real nets for students to use as they learn a variety of "net" games. There are several different units I want to teach, but I am unable to due to net constraints. I do not have any nets tall enough to focus on badminton or volleyball, and what I currently set up to teach tennis and pickleball is caution tape connected to two chairs as the end post. This small line is difficult to pick up visually as students are learning the games and it falls apart very easily. Too often, more time is spent trying to set the "net" back up than it is spent on learning the sport. With your help in purchasing the height-adjustable nets I will have a versatile piece of equipment that will alleviate the many headaches and pitfalls that accompany the caution tape and chair method. I will finally be able to teach all of the units that require a net and, ultimately, provide the best instruction and atmosphere for my students to be safe, healthy, and active.
