Research has shown that students in early childhood succeed with open time to experiment and play pretend. I plan to use these materials to create monthly dramatic play centers for my students to explore. I will integrate these with what they are learning in class by incorporating writing, use of coins and money, proportions, and many other math, science, and literacy concepts. This will also help my students develop communication, collaboration, and social-emotional skills as they work with their peers in the center. By donating to this project, you will be providing my first grade class with concrete play materials, something students have been lacking after a year of online learning. I am requesting a gift card to teachers-pay-teachers to purchase the Dramatic Play Center Educators Bundle, as well as various manipulatives from amazon to add concrete materials to the center. These include play foods, career vests, child-size plates and cutlery, a vet kit, a market kit, garden tools and flowers, and play-dough to create items they dream up to go with the center.
