Due to COVID, we probably won't be able to make much music through singing or playing recorders this year. Therefore, I am hoping that keyboards and drums will be a safe way to allow us to apply our musical skills and knowledge to other instruments. However, we do not have enough to use in one classroom. In order to avoid having students wait for their turn to play, I believe that having some extra instruments would be an asset in maintaining student engagement. Also, during the pandemic, some students and I had been disappointed that we couldn't have a choir. In order to keep our spirits up, I'm hoping that starting a xylophone and drum ensemble will motivate students to continue learning about the elements of music, thereby applying their musical skills and knowledge to different instruments other than what they normally use. In the end, I believe that this would help create school spirit through our music program by knowing that we will have musical groups to represent our school.
