This fish tank setup will help make my 7th grade ecology unit more hands-on for my students. We can explore different fish and invertebrates that work together to keep the fish tank running, and explore different food webs and habitats. We can use water testing in 8th grade to see how certain water parameters are necessary for living things to thrive in our fish tank. We will monitor water conditions and explore consequences of unclean water in our environment. We will also explore the nitrogen cycle's critical role in fish tanks and aquatic systems. This will also help engage my students' natural curiosity!
