Concrete rewards are beneficial to students that lack intrinsic motivation. These rewards will absolutely increase student achievement! Research has provided the benefits of rewards and students making academic progress. Struggling students often lack the motivation to continue the work when it is challenging. Students appear to stay on task when given rewards on a random basis.
