Students will use these games across the curriculum to review skills and apply knowledge learned.
The games such as Operation, Scrabble, Headbanz, and Jenga games will create an environment where students are using teamwork, problem-solving, and communication skills all while playing a fun game to review and apply new learning!
It is important that I've created ways for all students to be rigorously engaged in their learning while playing games. For example, while playing the Jenga game, all students in the group will answer the questions on individual whiteboards. Before the student may remove a block from the structure, everyone in the group needs to agree on the answer. Another guideline is no one is ever "out" of the game. These two guidelines will ensure all students are focused on learning.
My students come into the classroom each day eager and ready to learn! My classroom is full of diverse students that are innovative and curious. They like to move and be hands-on learners. That is why I am always looking for fresh and innovative ways to increase excitement and engagement in learning tasks. I believe these games will make a difference in our classroom!
