As a special education middle school teacher I would like to have a color printer in my classroom. This printer will be used for various things such as task folders and boxes that I create and print, as well as for visual schedules for my students to follow.
Can you imagine looking at a schedule that was in shades of black and grey everyday? A color printer will increase student engagement, not only in visual scheduling but in classroom and home activities as well. My students also have a greater chance of transferring learned skills when I make them as realistic and lifelike as possible. With a color printer, I will have the capability of printing these things in my classroom for my students. Additionally, my students utilize task folders and boxes that I create and print; these tasks folders and boxes are created uniquely for each student's needs and goals.
I would like the ability to print these in my classroom for students, and not at home on my own printer, that way I can change things as needed in the classroom. Again, can you imagine doing activities that were in black and white all the time?
If the need for distance learning happens, I would also like the ability to provide my students with colorful printouts and activities to be available to them.
My district does not cover the cost of a printer in our classrooms nor will it cover the cost of ink. I have included ink in my campaign, with knowing that I will have to cover the cost of ink from my own pocket once the ink from this campaign has run out.
