I am a first-year teacher teaching K-5, so as you can imagine, I need a diverse classroom! My classroom teaches behavior intervention and focuses on social-emotional learning. I believe that students work best when they can have strong motivators and a cozy classroom. I am building a LEGO wall for the kids to see the work they make either by earning bricks or by earning time to build on THEIR wall. It's important that as much of the wall art is curated by the students as possible, so they can take pride in their work! This project aims to give flex seating to the students so that they can choose how they learn best. It also gives me the opportunity to use books, games, and interactive tools to make the material more fun to learn. First-year teaching can be overwhelming to get everything that you want to help your students thrive, especially across multiple grades.
