As my classroom was bare to begin with, the majority of the books in my library were donated, meaning many of them came a bit worn and not in the best condition. Additionally, many of my students are extremely strong readers and there isn't a great selection of challenging books of interest to them that they can utilize when we do Reader's Workshop. I would like to refresh my library and add some newer, fresh books that will draw in my students and have them clamoring to read more. Good books can open the doors to students' imaginations! Encouraging students to read can be challenging, but introducing new books into my classroom library will engage my students and give them more choice in their reading material. I would love to have a library where students constantly have never-ending lists of books they'd like to read, because there are too many good books to choose from.
