Number sense is a critical component of early elementary math education. Understanding what numbers mean builds confidence in students and allows them to think flexibly and fluidly about numbers. Students with good number sense can manipulate numbers in their heads and participate in more complex mathematical thinking. Children who have good number sense have the foundation necessary to compute and solve more complex problems in older grades. We will use these hands-on math tools to help build this foundation and give students the experience and language needed to communicate about math concepts.
