As I prepare for the new school year, I am working on setting up a sensory station for my students. In my classroom this up coming year, half of my students have autism and they need sensory materials to help them self-regulate throughout the day. In a special education classroom, students can easily become frustrated, anxious and go through several feelings within minutes. It is often very hard for them to learn and stay focused when they are having a difficult time. Students need to fidget when learning or while working. This helps keep their anxiety and frustration levels low. I would like to provide my students with various fidget sensory items.
