Most students regardless of age or grade level never come in contact with printmaking and it's many uses in our lives and throughout history! Printmaking touches most of us everyday, whether it be wearing our favorite t-shirt or buying a card bought from a local shop. Printmaking is accessible with the right tools and background knowledge so I hope to be able to introduce my elementary art students to this time honored art tradition while they are still young. With the new printmaking materials individuals in my class will be able to explore a medium of art that is both physical and ephemeral in it's nature. Young artists will have the opportunity to use their hands to physically change the surface and construction of a material like linoleum while using traditional methods such as drawing to create an image. With these materials we can have in depth lessons on a new medium while also introducing them into other projects like textiles, ceramics, and more!
