Students sitting in small groups will have the opportunity to share their math thinking and thought process by showing their work "write" on the requested white board table and sitting at the table with the chairs. And as the teacher, I can model and share pertinent math thinking on the requested tabletop easel for all students at the table to see, as well as try to share student thinking by putting it into equations. Valuable time can be utilized as students simply use the table to problem solve and show their thoughts. Also, we can develop deeper understanding through discussion based on student drawings and computations. This creation and visualization of their math thinking supports their problem solving and critical thinking. Students working out their thinking on our table provides an essential springboard for math discourse and cooperation between peers. As the teacher, I can provide examples of math thinking as students share and revise them to me on the tabletop easel.
