Many of my students are not natural readers. That means reading is not usually going to be the one thing they will sit down to do on a regular basis. I want to use these books and magazines as a way to show my students reading can be exhilarating. I believe if I can capture them with a great book or an interesting article, those that struggle with comprehension will actually want to read more. The more they read, the better their comprehension will be, which leads to an increase in their overall school performance. I want them to groan when I tell them to put their books away because we have other things to complete. That tells me I have hooked them and there is no limit to what they can accomplish.
