As a first-time teacher at a small school, I've learned the biggest problem with teaching literature is getting it into the hands of my students. While checking the school's class copies of books, I discovered there are only enough books for one or two class periods. Only one or two class periods could actually be provided a book. That's two out of seven. I want to do better. With eighty copies of "Night" by Elie Wiesel, I will be able to teach my students, - not just this year, but every year - an important literary and historical work that educates students, not only on a personal narrative but on one of the most horrific events of the 20th century.
