I teach an adapted classroom where my students focus on learning functional, academic and life skills through an adapted curriculum. We use a variety of hands on experiences that allow my students to practice the skill that they are learning about that week. One skill that we learn is how to prepare simple healthy meals. Most of my students need prompts and visual reminders to determine between healthy and unhealthy foods, as well as making the meal. By providing my students a garden where they participate in the experience of growing healthy food would be so beneficial for them. This experience will also provide many academic and life lessons; the life cycle of a plant, weather, responsibility, etc. After our plants have blossomed we will use the veggies in our weekly cooking lessons! Please consider donating to my project to provide my students with this opportunity.
