My students are going to start our DNA unit by creating a DNA model using LEGO. I plan to use a template similar to this https://education.23andme.com/l/dna-model-lego/dna-model-lego/ - but doctor it up a little to allow them to choose the colors that represent various bases, bonds, phosphates, and sugars in their lab groups. While Watson and Crick created the first model of B-DNA, they could not have done so without the research of Rosalind Franklin. Students will start their DNA unit by doing a bit of research to determine how to create their structure, just as Watson and Crick did.
