I have put together a list of items that I believe will make a major impact to my students. I have been selected as a first year teacher to start a new classroom geared towards students with Autism and their sensory needs.
On this list you see items such as fidget toys and sensory bins. Both the sensory bins and fidget toys can be used to help ease stress and anxiety for children with autism. However, the sensory bins also allow students to explore science and nature in a way that meets their sensory needs. I have also added a science, because I believe this group will learn best through hands on materials.
On this list you will also see non educational items such as Lysol wipes and sanitizer, these items will keep the classroom clean and safe to fight against COVID 19 and other illnesses. I have also included non educational food items such as the Lay's Stax and Go-Go Squeeze to help with my students who experience food aversions to help keep them full, because we all know we can not learn when we are hungry.
