These materials will actively engage students in current events that are happening and that they can make connections with. This will give my students high interest text to help them increase their reading achievement. Scholastic News will give students the chance to ask questions about new topics and think about how they play such a big role in the world. The students will be able to read these in class and have rich discussions with their peers, but they will also be taking them home to share with their families. Sharing what they have learned with their family will allow them to make the ultimate connection.
