It is no secret that the local coffee house fosters a study environment for hard working college students. By creating the ambiance of the coffee shop in the high school English classroom in which the writing workshop and collaborative lessons are taking place, it allows our students to submerge themselves in the college environment. They are after all, college students in high school! The classroom Keurig and assortment of drinks will allow students to enjoy their favorite coffee, tea, or hot chocolate as they collaborate in writing workshop form to discuss their writing and revisions. The lighting covers add to this ambiance as it tones down the harsh fluorescent lighting and invites the students in for this collaborative activity. The additional journals will be on hand as students need for their writing. The masks will provide additional safety while working in small group settings. The additional funds with teachers pay teachers will aide in providing an assortment of engaging writing workshop lessons that are collaborative and hands on.
