I recently started teaching STEM electives that focus on medical science to help my students realize that they have so many options for careers in the medical field. Most students assume that the only way they can have a career in medicine is to go to years and years of school to become a doctor. This thought ends up scaring students away from following their dream of becoming a medical professional. I want to help my students explore careers in medicine that fit their vision of their futures. My goal with this project is to help my students gain access to the knowledge and skills they will need to pursue a career in medicine. My students deserve hands-on experience and what could be more fun than drawing blood from a fake arm?
