Sensory areas allow kids to recollect themselves, process their sensory input needs, and take a much-needed break. At a school serving students with high functioning autism, this calming/sensory corner will help my Kinder students by providing them with a spot to work on their self-regulation skills, and get in the right mindset for productive learning. This calming/sensory area will be a safe place where students feel comfortable and can always go whenever they need a break. I know my students will really benefit from integrating a softer, calmer, and less rigid area in the classroom. This addition will have them looking forward to coming to school each day!
