My students often ask me when they'll use information in the real world or how this information is useful to them. My aquaponics aquarium will help answer those questions! Through the use of an aquarium in our classroom, I plan to incorporate the animals (koi) and plants (assorted veggies/fruits) to show students how various process work in the real world! Cellular respiration? Lets measure the oxygen in our tank! Photosynthesis? Let's watch our plants grow! Symbiotic relationships? Our koi help our plants thrive, and our plants provide oxygen for our koi! The connections between science and the real world are endless!
