There are currently zero reading books in the classroom that I will be teaching in for the upcoming school year. My list consists of a variety of 1st through 2nd grade books as well as comfortable seating and a rug for my students to be able to use while they are reading in our classroom library. It is in the classroom library that students can understand how to choose books appropriate for their reading level and interest, they can learn about how to take care and organize the books. It is here in the classroom library that students develop as researchers and independent readers. These skills are critical for their years in education. Students should have a variety of leveled reading books to choose from that they can practice reading, as well as share throughout the day. The funding of this project will permit me to provide my students with a start to our classroom reading library that they will use throughout the entire school year.
