The use of a carpet is a daily activity in my classroom, especially in reading, writing, and class meetings. A carpet in our classroom library creates an inviting, comfortable space for students to gather and engage in literacy, as well as a variety of other subjects. In addition, having a carpet adds to flexible seating within the room, giving students the option to sit in an additional space that is not their desk or any other seating in the room. Making sure students are comfortable in their environment is essential to their academic success. Students feel motivated when their space is calm, flexible, and cohesive. I have seen how choice and a comfortable classroom can positively affect my students and hope that the addition of a carpet will help us grow even more as a classroom community!
