The current worldwide pandemic has caused irreparable damage to the academic lives of my students. As incoming kindergarten students, it is very likely that this current school year serves my students first experience inside of a classroom. I am hoping that the materials within this project will provide my students with a memorable and impactful school year. I want my students to feel comfortable expressing their emotions especially after the trauma that we have all experienced because of the Coronavirus Pandemic and I hope to engage in a variety of social-emotional learning experiences. Some of the tools that I hope to utilize during social emotional instruction include the Social-Emotional Match Ups, Friends & Neighbors: The Game for Empathy and Cooperation Learning, and the All About Me- Creative Open-Ended Arts Kit. I want to show my students that math can be fun through the utilization of the Calendar Math Activity Program, the Magnetic Ten Frame Answer Boards, the Rainbow Fraction Tiles, and Math is Fun Books. I want my students to fall in love with reading and literacy. I want my students to be able to bring the stories that we read to life with the Fairy-Tale Problem-Solving STEM Kits. I also want my students to become investigators, through the utilization of various science materials such as the Life Cycles Theme Box, the Seasons Weather Theme Box, the Snap Circuits Basic Elementary and Electronics Exploration Kit, and the 4M Weather Science Kit. Ordinarily I would not hesitate to purchase these materials for my students myself, but as a new mom I do not have the expendable funds that I once had.
