A common characteristic of students with autism is trouble communicating or connecting with their classmates. These activities will allow me to create opportunities to help them improve their social skills. Through these activities I can teach my students how to interact with peers, share, play cooperatively, listen and follow directions, respect personal space, make eye contact and use manners all while participating in fun and engaging activities. Having basic social skills can help my students make friends, learn from others and develop hobbies and interests. These skills can also help their family relationships and give them a sense of belonging.
