My school partnered with Hope Street and I want to create a safe, trauma- informed classroom where my students can feel safe, loved and their needs are met emotionally and physically through restoration while receiving their education. I want to have a safe and protective classroom where my students can have healthy snacks and water to be hydrated while learning AVID strategies of organization to help them become independent learners, communicators and problem solvers; as well as trauma informed strategies to help them overcome emotional challenges caused by the trauma they have experienced. When students basic needs are met and they have a bank of tools to help them become successful learners they become stronger, persevere and self-confident.
