My classroom has a wide variety of readers from below to above grade level.However,I have often notice many of them not interested in teacher selected texts, which results in a dis interest for reading.Much of our school population is low income and these students have much more to worry about besides a story that I choose. I want them to naturally develop an interest and love of reading within their own genre-articles, magazine, poetry, comedy- that will really peak their interest in reading in general.
